"The Show" That People Still Talk About

If there is one show that people are still talking about after June 14, it is Fe de los Reyes’ “IndeFEndence ‘day!” which was held at the Redondo Beach Performing Arts Center.
The combination of laughter and songs made the evening memorable. For many, they said: “We’ve never laughed this hard for a long time. It was entertaining, nostalgic and captivating.”
Filipinos in America work hard for a living. They are economic contributors in the communities they live in, and are visible in every industry and all levels of employment, management, and entrepreneurship. And a show like “IndeFEndence ‘day!” is a treat after a week’s hard work.
Comedy queen Fe de los Reyes is a former member of a popular band, 'Music and Magic' in the Philippines during the 70’s.
"IndeFEndence ‘day!" was a concert with guests, Ms. Joey Albert and Bernardo Bernardo.
"Fe was hilarious and a gifted singer and comedian; the show was entertaining and allowed us to reminisce on our Filipino heritage. Bernardo and Joey added fun and life to the package. Fe’s message of “OK lang, walang problema” (it's okay, no problem on whatever is going on whether good or bad) gives us a glimpse of the independence she achieved living in the US the past 10 years," said members of Fil-Am Barkada, employees of the Southern California Edison. Ms. Albert is the 80’s hit singer whose fame never faded. To this day, her songs are still heard on television, radio stations and some movies in the Philippines. Her CDs are available in stores in Canada and in the US.
She brought the audience of "IndeFEndence ‘day!" to memory lane. Her songs captured the audience as their minds ventured to the good old days.
According to many: "It is refreshing to flashback to live songs. After a week of hard work, a show like this is revitalizing."
Then enter Bernardo Bernardo, another famous comedian. He is an Urian Best Actor for Ishmael Bernal’s much-acclaimed “Manila By Night,” which is among many other recognitions rendered to his fame.
Bernardo Bernardo is an actor-comedian that can portray any role. But one thing he does best is to make people laugh as soon as he steps foot on stage.
The show “IndeFEndence ‘day!” was a perfect combination of laughter and songs, both old and new.
"My family enjoyed the very successful concert with the VIP reception. Fe, Joey and Bernardo really gave an enjoyable performance. I particularly enjoyed Joey Albert’s performance and amazed on how beautiful she has stayed all these years," Nonoy Tuason, former president of the Don Bosco Alumni Association of North America, stated.
Co-producer and California Journal For Filipino Americans Publisher Joey Quinto thanked before the show started the corporate sponsors namely, Wells Fargo, State Farm Insurance, and U.S. Bank.
Quinto invites other major corporations to do business with more than one million Filipinos in California. He envisions to continuously connect corporate America and the Filipino market, which is a win-win situation because corporations could profit from the billion-dollar purchasing power of Filipino Americans while Filipinos could benefit from community reinvestment.
