Marino Filart (ret.), spokesman for the Laguna Lake Fishcage Owners Group; and Sr. Supt. Cipriano E. Querol Jr., Deputy Director for Operations of the Manila Police District. Governor Nantes is batting for the improvement of the country's irrigation system and the proper utilization of idle lands as a solution to the looming rice and food shortage. At the same time, Nantes, together with Hipolito, stress that the seemingly unabated conversion of agricultural lands into residential and industrial areas is greatly reducing food production.

EDITORIAL CONTENT

California Journal For Filipino Americans provides readers news from the Philippines, consumer and business news, Small Business Administration (SBA) updates, community events and going-ons. It also provides some news from the California Public Utilities Commission (CPUC), the Bureau of Citizenship and Immigration Services (BCIS), and other Government Agencies that provide significant information of great interest to the Filipino community.

In 1996, The California Journal For Filipino Americans was awarded as the Media Advocate of the Year by the U.S. Small Business Administration (SBA). It is a Federal Award acknowledging the efforts of this publication in dissemenating information vital to the growth of the small business community.

In 1997 the Los Angeles Minority Business Opportunity Committee (MBOC) with the U.S. SBA presented this newspaper the Minority Media Award for journalistic excellence in the ethnic community.

This publication will continue to publish activities to boost the small business community and assist entrepreneurs achieve success in their fields of endeavors.
